Charleston Wine + Food and a puppet show: Things to do in the Lowcountry this weekend

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The Charleston Wine + Food Festival has kicked off, and while there are some events that have sold out you still have a chance to get tickets for certain events.

The Charleston Wine + Food Festival Culinary Village tickets are still available for Friday and Sunday. This is Charleston’s largest sampling experience, and you can take part in the daytime celebration yourself back at Riverfront Park.

Lots of favorites will be brought back as well as new additions that will be offered in the village, including larger food portions and round-trip transportation from downtown Charleston.

This Saturday, you can take a crash course tasting in Charleston Wine + Food Festival’s Beverage Hub ‘Sake to Me’ at the Mills House Hotel. This beverage workshop centers on the fermented Japanese rice drink Sake. The event providers are hoping you will get a deeper understanding of Sake by trying the different flavor profiles from sweet to sparkling.

Southern Hip Hop Icons will be the headlining performance at the Charleston Wine + Food Festival Hip Hops: The Remix! Nappy Roots will take the Music Farm Stage on Friday starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and are available with limited capacity.

If you need a place to take the kids, Tuffy Tiger is coming to Flowertown this Saturday at the Flowertown Players Blackbox Theatre. There will be a live-action puppet-based performance featuring the little orange tiger, Tuffy, at 11 a.m. with limited seating. The black box is located behind the theatre in the parking alley and strollers are welcome.
