12th Annual Heroes Run, Friday night lights, free tour of Patriot Museum to enjoy

CHARLESTON, S.C. (5 Around Town) - This weekend you can help support a remarkable cause, enjoy a Friday night football game or even take a free tour at Patriots Point Museum.

The 12th Annual Heroes Run, which raises money for a great cause benefiting America’s heroes, will be held Saturday in honor of those who died during the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 and in the wars since.

Registration for the event is open until the race starts at 9:00 a.m. The race starts in front of the Daniel Island Fire Department Station, near the intersection of Seven Farms Drive and River Landing Drive. There will be a post-race after-party at New Realm Brewing Co. on Daniel Island where there will be smoothies and live music.

Patriots Point is hosting Library Day, an event to promote reading in partnership with the Charleston County Library system.

Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon, readers who finished the child, teen or adult ‘Summer Reading Program’ will get free admission for themselves and a guest of their choice at the museum. Visitors can enjoy special activities, giveaways and food trucks.

CARTA is offering free rides to those with a voucher and participants must show their library day voucher when admitted.
