CHARLESTON, S.C. (Palmetto Life) – Veterans Day is Saturday and there’s a list of events you can enjoy to help you sort out your weekend plans.
Goose Creek will host an annual ceremony with American Legion Post 166. The event is set for 11 a.m. on Saturday at the John McCants Veterans Park.
The Patriot Art Foundation and The Patriots Point Development Authority are hosting a Veteran’s Beginner Watercolor workshop. If you’re a veteran who likes art and would love to participate, the event is free Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all necessary supplies will be provided. There will also be a free lunch.
There is a limit of 20 seats available for the workshop. To register in advance through the Patriot Art Foundation you can head to their website or send an email.
In Dorchester County, you can enjoy a ceremony honoring our veterans at Ashley River Park Saturday at 10 a.m.
You can enjoy music from the Ashley Ridge High School Band, Trumpeter Paul Cox from the Summerville Orchestra and other local musicians. Dorchester School District Two Superintendent and retired US Colonel Shane Robbins will also give a speech at the event. After the ceremony, you’ll be able to grab a free lunch and speak to our local veterans.
The Charleston Holiday Market is this Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the North Charleston Coliseum. Bring your family and pick out a Christmas tree, shop from local vendors and enjoy some tasty food and live music. Event organizers say Santa will be there throughout the weekend so you can bring your cameras and take photos.

Beaufort County will also be having a Veterans Day Parade on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery.
US Marine Corps veteran Joan Petrucci will be this year’s grand marshal and will be leading the parade. Organizers encourage you to come out and show your appreciation to your local veterans.
Tommy’s Express Car Wash is offering free washes to all veterans and active-duty personnel for the seventh year in a row.
In 2022, the franchise provided over 5,500 free washes across the country. There are two Tommy’s locations in North Charleston and three in Summerville, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunity.
